BLAKE ELIMINATED, RODDICK ADVANCES

Second seed James Blake was dumped out of the SAP Open by Robby Ginepri, while Andy Roddick disposed of Mardy Fish to progress to the semi-finals.

Blake fell 6-2 6-2 to Ginepri, who avenged a 6-4 6-4 loss to his fellow American in last week's event at Delray Beach.

The world number nine came up short of a title for the second successive week after losing in the Delray Beach final to Japanese teenager Kei Nishikori last Sunday.

Ginepri will face Radek Stepanek in the last four after the fourth-seeded Czech posted a 6-2 7-6 (7/5) victory over Yen-Hsun Lu of Chinese Taipei.

Despite firing 22 aces, American John Isner's quest for a first career ATP title ended on Friday, as he suffered a thrilling 7-6 (7/4), 6-7 (1/7), 7-6 (13/11) loss to Guillermo Garcia-Lopez of Spain, who will now face Roddick, a back-to-back winner of this event from 2004-05.

Top seed Roddick reached the semi-finals in San Jose for a fifth successive year after edging a close encounter with Fish 7-6 (8/6) 1-6 7-5

Roddick is seeking his 24th career title and has not won on the tour since Washington last July.
